Q: What is the
difference between USAV Teams and AAU Teams?
A: USAV is for elite level players who
compete in USAV multi-day tournaments in major cities within the state
of Florida. AAU Teams compete in mostly one day tournaments within 2
hours of Lake County.
Q: How much will it cost
for my daughter to play?
A: To Be Determined by 11-01-08.
Q: How do your fees
compare with other clubs?
A: Research shows that we are generally 25%
to 50% lower than surrounding clubs. We are a very lean club...our
coaches donate most of their time during practice and competitions.
Q: Can I pay my fees
with a credit card?
A: To Be Determined by 11-01-08.
Q: What is included in
the club fee?
A: All uniforms, registration fees,
secondary insurance coverage, membership fees, coaches supplements,
tournament fees, gym rental, many hours of instruction, and related
administrative expenses. We guarantee your daughter a minimum of
playing 25 points at any Tournament.
Q: What is not
included in the club fee?
A: Hotel, airfares, ground transportation,
and food. Your daughter will not be guaranteed any more playing
time than 25 points per Tournament.

Q: How can my daughter
raise money to help pay for her club fees?
A: Team organized fund raisings such as car
washes or the donations from local businesses to team players during the
regular club season to help players raise money for their club fees is
allowed. The Club will produce a Media Guide and players will have the
opportunity to sell advertisements where 50% of the cost will be
credited back to the player for her fees.
Q: What if I have an
unpaid balance from last year?
A: All balances must be paid in full before
you will be eligible to participate in tryouts. Your Club Director will
let you know if you have an unpaid balance.
Q: What if I am unsure
about wanting to play club volleyball?
A: Come to the tryout and see what you
think about this level of play. Please make the club director aware of
your intentions after your tryout. If you are still unsure, then ask
to be considered as an alternate only.
Q: When will I have to
commit to the club?
A: The coach of each team will contact the
players that have been selected to play following the date of the final
tryout. Once contacted, each player will have 1 day to accept or
decline the position. Once accepted, a player will need to make their
first payment date (to be determined for 2009 season), to secure their
spot on the team.
Q: What if I decide not
to play after I commit to the club?
A: We do not issue refunds once you commit
to the club and money is expended on behalf of your child. Also, club
director approval is required for any transfer if you decide to transfer
to another club after Dec 1st. Transfers will be only be approved once
fees are paid in full.
Q: What do I do if I
have a problem or concern during the season?
A: The club director selects a Parent
Liaison (PL) from each team to help with any problems or concerns. The
PL is responsible for helping to find a resolution and is the primary
point of contact throughout the season. If a resolution is not reached,
then the Club Director will get involved to assist.
Q: What if I disagree
with the coaches decision about my daughters skills or playing time?
A: Please wait at least 24 hours before you
contact the team's Parent Liaison to discuss your concerns. ( A new day
always brings a new perspective.) Immediately after losing a game or
match is not the proper time to share your thoughts (or emotions) with
the coach. Always address the issue...never attack the person. No
parent is allowed to address the Coach directly on these issues. All
concerns must be directed through the Parent Liaison
Q: Are boys allowed to
play?
A: No, unfortunately we are not equipped
either in coaching staff or in gym space & time for practices, to have a
boy's team.
Q: When will my daughter
practice?
A: Teams will normally practice two nights
per week. Practice schedules are posted on another page of this
website.
Q: How are the age
divisions determined?
A: The age divisions are determined using
the USAV age definition chart below:
2008 USAV
Tryouts Age Definitions
Q: How is this club
governed?
A: Our club is governed primarily by the
club director with oversight from a board of directors.
Q: Will my daughter have
to play only within her age division?
A: Athletes may be asked to play up in an
age division if it will benefit the player and the club. Athletes may
not play in a lower age division.
Q: How is lodging
handled?
A: Parents will be responsible for making
their own lodging reservations for out-of-town tournaments. Once the
playing schedule is posted, tournament sponsored hotel information will
be made available on the website. Remember to make your reservations
early to ensure that you will have a room near the event. Hotels fill
up quickly!
Q: How will we get to
competitions?
A: Parents are responsible to
provide/arrange for transportation to all practices and tournaments.
Note: If you allow your daughter to ride with another family, make sure
she has her medical release form with her in the event that medical care
is required while she is outside of your care. Originals forms will be
maintained by the club director.
Q: What should I expect
if this is my first year?
A: Expect the best and prepare for the
unexpected would be the best advice. Schedules change, players (and
coaches) get sick, referees make bad calls, gymnasiums are sometimes
freezing cold, and days occasionally seem long. But, in spite of these
small setbacks, watching your daughter develop character and confidence
while she learns to successfully interact with a new team and develop
lasting friendships and skills makes it well worth the investment. Ask
the players and parents that are in their 8th year with us.
